partying alchohol and Tinnitus?
I have had tinnitus for a week and a half now.. i think it might go away because i dont usually listen to loud music and i think i had withdrawl syptoms because i stopped smoking some weed that i thought was laced. I had been smoking it for 3 weeks and when i stopped i started having tinnius, panic attacks, night sweats and depression. I have been smoking for a year and this had never happend. My tinnitus got much quieter over the past week and a half to where i dont eve here it much anymore. I went to a party last nigth and my tinnitus has worsened. Im not worried about or freaking out but i was wondering if drinking can prolong the amound of time i have my tinnitus. If it just makes it temporarily worse for a while afterward im ok with that….im concerned that drinking once or twice a week might cause my tinnitus to become permanent if it wasnt going to be already…is this possible?
I would guess that your tinnitus is related to loud noises and not to your alcohol consumption. The presence of tinnitus often is an early indicator of cochlear hair cell dysfunction or loss, as in the case of prolonged noise exposure. With repeated exposures long term damage can occur. There are many causes for tinnitus besides noise exposure, so if your symptoms continue you should have this evaluated. The consumption of alcohol has been found to both increase and decrease the severity of tinnitus. Therefore, alcohol’s effect on the severity of tinnitus is dependent on the causes of the individual’s affliction and cannot be considered a treatment. So it is difficult to answer your question. If your symptoms continue, discuss this with your doctor. Good luck.
