Where Will I Find Lasting Tinnitus Relief?

This question is frequently asked when strange noises refuse to go away after a cold or infection, an ear injury or a serious knock on the head, or indeed for any other reason, and your doctor has diagnosed tinnitus as the cause. Then you are going to be seeking tinnitus relief to get rid of those sounds so you can return to a normal life.

It was an ear injury followed by a heavy cold that caused my first experience of tinnitus and after months of suffering, my own tinnitus relief came as a result of treatment for other conditions related to blood pressure and circulation. In the meantime I had also discovered just how many fellow sufferers are at their wits end trying to find a cure for tinnitus. These are the reasons for my continuing interest in the condition and in trying to help other sufferers find their own method of lasting relief.

Very often the cause of the onset of tinnitus is not obvious so if whistling or buzzing noises in your ears persist, whether you think you know the cause or not, the first thing you must do is seek professional medical advice. Whilst tinnitus itself is not considered a life threatening disease some causes of ringing ears are more serious and could need urgent attention. If tinnitus is diagnosed it is then you need to start your search for tinnitus relief.

The reason I say ‘start your search for tinnitus relief‘ is simply that it is unlikely your doctor will be able to precisely identify the cause and even if he does there is not yet any known prescribed medication that will cure the condition. Indeed many prescribed medications are known to make tinnitus symptoms worse not better.

So in the majority of cases tinnitus victims are left to find their own means of tinnitus treatment. Fortunately this is not as daunting a prospect as it was ten year ago when I had my first encounter and started seeking a cure for tinnitus. Nowadays there are many books written by past sufferers and the best of these give us a clear insight into the symptoms, causes and remedies of the disorder.

I have invested a great deal of time and energy reading books and articles on the subject, and speaking with fellow sufferers, and I can confidently assure you that rather than look to prescribed medication for your tinnitus remedy the holistic or whole person route is more likely to bring you lasting tinnitus relief. Simple changes in your diet, light exercise and a good sleep routine are easy to implement and can bring meaningful relief within a few days.

If you are seeking tinnitus relief as a new victim or a long suffering casualty your next move should be to learn more about the condition, read the evidence and testimonials of lasting relief written by past casualties, and then immediately take action to start your own tinnitus relief program.

Tinnitus Relief

By Miles Hartley

You are a newly diagnosed Tinnitus patient or you have tried various tinnitus relief methods and are not satisfied with the results.

Being told that the noises in your ears could be permanent and that there is no guaranteed cure for tinnitus is, for most of us, a pretty stress inducing piece of news. And do you know what? That stress feeling actually makes your tinnitus worse.

So let us start by coming to terms with the condition.

• It is not life threatening.

• Yes it does affect your lifestyle but it is manageable.

• It is ‘curable’ if you consider a cure to be reaching a position where you cannot hear your tinnitus noise or if you do you know how to stop it. Settle for that and expect to find a cure soon.

• There are many worse illnesses and diseases we see or hear about every day.

Agree with me on these basic facts and your stress level will come down a couple of notches right now. Already, your tinnitus relief program has started. So let us now consider dealing with stress, and your tinnitus relief therapy.

Stress is a contender for being one of the major causes of tinnitus. It also affects the levels of noise and recurrence of attacks, so it is certainly one of the first things you should consider as part of your tinnitus relief therapy.

Before reaching into the medicine cabinet let us have a look at one of the easiest and most natural ways you can reduce the stress in your life. Yes, I know that just getting through life itself these days can be a stress journey so bear with me. Just think how much better your whole life will be if you learn how to deal with stress, not just your tinnitus sound.

I am talking about relaxation. A proper relax session every day for just ten minutes should make you feel all round better, make you a nicer person, and reduce your tinnitus levels. So if you fancy all that and you are still here, this is what you do to make relaxing part of your tinnitus relief therapy.

Go to a quiet place where you can be alone for fifteen minutes. This could be around the house or take a folding chair outdoors. Sit on a comfortable chair just about upright with both feet flat on the ground. Take your shoes off if you want. Put your hands on your knees. Take a few deep breaths, through your nose only if possible. Now feel the air as it passes up your nose, to the back of your throat and down into your lungs. I always close my eyes but that is a matter of choice. After a few deep breaths let you body relax. Now think about your right foot. Think about the toes, wiggle them then relax them. Do the same on your left. With each inward breath pull the relax feeling up through your feet, up your legs and onward until your whole self is relaxed. It will take no more than a few minutes and you will feel great. Enjoy that fully relaxed feeling for a few minutes before you unwind slowly back to full awareness. Selfishly enjoy that peaceful feeling before you go back to your normal routines. Incidentally, this is my go to sleep method. I can drop off within minutes anywhere. It drives my wife crazy which makes it even more enjoyable!

I seriously suggest you begin to include fifteen minutes relaxing each day as part of your tinnitus relief therapy. You will feel overall better and so less stressed. You will probably sleep better and you can expect your tinnitus sound to be considerably reduced.

There is more to most tinnitus relief programs than simply reducing your stress level. But making relaxation part of your daily routine and a fundamental part of your tinnitus relief will set you on the road to that tinnitus cure and a quieter more peaceful life.

Tinnitus Treatment Methods

By Franklin Sovte

Because tinnitus can be a symptom of an underlying medical condition, individuals should undergo a full examination by a certified ear specialist. Individuals should also have a complete medical examination. Special attention should be given to blood pressure, kidney function, drug intake, diet, and allergies, as these factors are sometimes associated with tinnitus.

Currently, there is no single treatment for tinnitus. Tinnitus treatment generally involves a multi-disciplinary approach and includes a variety of symptom management methods.

Conventional Drug Therapy:

While many drugs have been researched and used to relieve tinnitus, there is no drug specifically designed for tinnitus treatment. For people with chronic tinnitus, drug treatments may offer some success. Drugs that have been studied and used to treat tinnitus include anti-anxiety, antidepressants, antihistamines, anticonvulsants and anesthetics. While many people have been successful in better managing their tinnitus symptoms, drug therapy can have serious side effects.

Alternative Treatments:

Many people have experienced tinnitus relief from the use of herbal preparations, homeopathic remedies, and vitamin and mineral regimens. Others have benefited from acupuncture, cranio-sacral therapy, magnets, hyperbaric oxygen, or hypnosis. Some individuals find massage therapy and energy-work, such as reiki, to be beneficial treatments for tinnitus. Although some individuals have reported a mild allergic reaction to herbal preparations, most alternative treatments carry very little risk.

Cochlear Implants: A cochlear implant is a device that sends electrical sound from the ear to the brain. An electrode is threaded into the cochlea (spiral-shaped cavity of the inner ear) and a receiver is implanted just beneath the skin behind the ear. Because electrode implantation destroys any remaining healthy hair cells, cochlear implants are only prescribed to deaf or near-deaf patients.

Tinnitus Maskers:

A non-medical option used to reduce or “mask” unwanted noise. Tinnitus maskers are worn like a hearing aid to produce a neutral white sound. Over 60% of patients with severe tinnitus report relief. A newer device is a tinnitus instrument, which is a combination hearing aid and masker. This device teaches the brain how to ignore tinnitus noise. Individuals must be tested and fitted for the tinnitus instrument.

Hearing Aids:

Some tinnitus patients with hearing loss experience total or partial tinnitus relief while wearing hearing aids. Amplification from the hearing aid allows the aid wearer to hear background sounds, which takes away from the focus on the tinnitus noise.

Biofeedback: This relaxation technique has a 25-year history of successful treatment for pain and stress-related disorders. Biofeedback teaches people how to control certain body functions including pulse, muscle tension and skin temperature. The goal when using biofeedback for tinnitus treatment, is to decrease stress and anxiety levels that may be contributing to tinnitus.

Biofeedback tinnitus therapy may require weekly sessions over several months before improvement is noticed. However, up to 80% of patients find some relief of their tinnitus symptoms and 20% have reported total relief.

1] The company should have a proven track record supplying tinnitus treatments.

One way of deciding on a particular tinnitus treatment is to only deal with a company or website that has “stood the test of time” By that I mean you should only consider dealing with well established people that have been supplying treatment products to help with tinnitus for many years.

* This way you can be sure that they are legitimate companies.

* You can establish that they have a proper support system that will reply to your email or telephonic questions.

You will always find that these companies are far more likely to have a product that will help actually your tinnitus.

2] Call them on the telephone.

I know it is an internet transaction you will be making but as a rule, if you can contact them in person you KNOW that they are legitimate.

You must be able to speak to a person who is knowledgeable about tinnitus treatments, not just some sales person.

If you get no answer or leave a message and get no reply, forget them, cross them off your list. They are not worthy of your time.

3] Ask them questions about the tinnitus treatment.

Talk to them about their tinnitus treatment, how they came to be marketing tinnitus related products, how long they have been in the industry and also try to get some type of success ratio for their products as they relate to tinnitus relief.

You can normally get a feel about what sort of company you are dealing with by carrying out these three simple steps.

You have enough to worry about already – go that extra mile and you will be well on the road to finding the right tinnitus treatment.

To conclude, you know that there is no quick overnight cure for tinnitus, so do not believe the fancy words, slick marketing messages and impressive looking websites.

Follow the steps above, then go with your gut feel, use common sense and you will more often than not end up with the right tinnitus treatment that will actually help you in your quest for tinnitus relief!
