Tips For A Tinnitus Treatment

By Morgan Hamilton

My husband, who has been working for a sheet metal factory for the past two decades has developed a special kind of hearing problem called tinnitus. This is caused due to harsh conditions of the factory coupled with the absence of heating or air conditioning facilities in the plant. The bigger problem is noise. Tinnitus is common among most people spending major part of their day in a factory. I now worry I can never find an effective tinnitus treatment.

I am pretty confused about the effect of tinnitus. My husband can hear things, but the problem is he hears too much. What he hears is a constant ringing sound and many other humming sounds. This background music makes it difficult for him to actually listen to what is said to him. He doesn’t hear me, if I call him from back.

I was very much perplexed one night to see him disturbed when I switched off the TV in our bedroom. He wanted the TV to be turned on to neutralize the loud humming sounds he was hearing. It was so painful to see he needed a good amount of noise just to fall asleep. This incident prompted me to immediately find a treatment for tinnitus.

It was so unfortunate my search ended up in the cold. I could not find an effective tinnitus treatment that can be used for my husband. Later we decided some changes in daily activities to deal with the amount of sound waves that reach his ears. In fact we were able to make the little adjustments as tinnitus treatment. It has paid off too. His hearing problem was significantly reduced by the changes we made.

We reduced the frequency of going to our favorite music concert from once in a week to few times a year. I also suggested my husband spend more time in quieter environment. Takes a longer shower, listens to soft music and watch some sporting events without setting the volume too high. This soft sound environment acted as an effective tinnitus treatment.

We also avoid certain medicines after our consultations with our doctor. He prescribed alternatives for the medicines that cause the buzzing in the ears. I hope someone will come up with a comprehensive tinnitus treatment. Till then, we are determined to live a normal life in spite of difficulties his ear is causing.

Sudden Tinnitus Hearing Loss

Tinnitus causes continuous sounds in your ears. In tinnitus hearing loss sounds can be very frustrating if one is not used to them and these noises can drive you mad. But fortunately several cheap remedies have been developed to cure or at least reduce the effects of tinnitus. Sometimes it is wise to reduce the effects rather than relying on dangerous methods to cure a problem. Some people consider tinnitus hearing loss as being normal and don’t even consider it a medical condition.

Tinnitus occurs as huge pressure mounts against the inner ear sometimes causing slight ringing which becomes a noticeable buzz, followed periodically by loud bangs. And there are actually several reasons why this occurs. One very cheap method to cure tinnitus is to clean your ears regularly. This will remove any fluid that is present inside your ears. Doing this daily is recommended. Also avoid salts in your meals as this will slow down the production of fluids in the first place. Sudden Tinnitus Hearing Loss

Listening to something very loud can also initiate tinnitus hearing loss. For some, these noises are present in their workplace; they can use ear plugs to protect them from the loud noises. For others I will just recommend to avoid listening to loud music directly (head phones or earphones).

Listening to soft jazz music might also be beneficial for some people. It has been discovered that certain vitamin deficiency can also cause tinnitus hearing loss. Mp3 Players And Your Hearing Health

By Barney Garcia

So many people are using mp3 players and iPods on an everyday basis more and more. This rising trend attracts all people who like to listen to non-stop music on the bus, in the car, while working out or just while relaxing at home. While there have been many studies on the positive effects music can have on a person, having small earphones stuffed in your ears while playing loud music can be detrimental to your hearing. Studies have shown that using small earpieces that are inserted inside of the ear creates a sound that is nine decibels higher than that of regular headphones that cover the whole ear. Nine decibels may not sound like a lot, but to put it in perspective it is about the same difference of an alarm clock to a lawn mower. It is also important to note that the type of earphones that fit inside the ear are less effective at blocking out background noises, giving the listener more incentive to turn up the volume. While no one can be sure what the average volume mp3 listeners are cranking their volumes to, a recent study compiled in Australia showed that a quarter of the listeners between the ages of 18 and 54 are listening to music at levels that could potentially cause long term hearing loss.

High levels of music produced by mp3 technology can cause hearing loss because the sound waves damage the hair cells in the cochlea; a part of the ear which transmits sound information to your brain. Any sound higher than 90 decibels can cause long term hearing loss if the sound is prolonged, and most mp3 players have the technological capabilities of reaching 120 decibels. That is equivalent to an ambulance siren.

You can’t measure the decibel level of your mp3 player, but you might be listening to your music too loud if your player is over 60% of the maximum volume, you can’t hear conversations that are happening around you, other people can hear your music, or you find yourself yelling or talking loudly to people nearby.

There is no need to stop using your mp3 player, and most people wouldn’t anyways, considering the great joys they get out of the technology, but there are ways you can ensure your hearing is healthy. Just follow the steps above and you will be sure to have excellent ear health as well as pleasurable non-stop music technology for many years to come.
