How can I mask my Tinnitus?

I’ve had tinnitus for about 2 months so far. I hope it will go away…until then, how can I go about masking it?

I can’t hear my tinnitus in the shower or when I run water in the sink. However, when I run a fan in my room, I can still hear it. Do actual white noise machines work better? What About Tinnitus Maskers from an audiologist – do they work?

I am currently trying to get an appointment with an ENT. Who knows, maybe it’ll go away. It started with a minor ear infection and a retracted eardrum. Ears are better now but the ringing remains ;_;.

Ouch, you have my sympathies. To mask it, you need to have a masker that makes sounds at the right frequencies. So white noise type machines, which have 6 or more different choices of sounds (ocean, sizzle, random, crickets, wind, etc.) will likely have one that is suitable for the frequency of your tinnitus. Just go get one, and if it doesn’t work, you can try a different company’s machine with their different sounds.
