Ear Ringing Tinnitus

Can a retracted eardrum cause Tinnitus (ear ringing)?
I went to the ENT today for the maddening tinnitus I have been suffering with. I went to a bar last sat and every since they have been ringing. Although I had a sinus infection 3 weeks ago, and my ear has been full every since then. Well the ENT told me I have wax on my eardrum and my eardrum is retracted. He gave me nasonex and ear wax removal. So what is causing it? He doesn’t know. He says it could be, the loud music from the bar, the wax, the sinus infection, or the retracted eardrum, or any of the above. Any of you been through this? what did you do to relieve the ANNOYING buzzing?
“Tinnitus is rarely caused by a retracted drum. If tinnitus is present, another cause should be suspected. Because a retracted eardrum is often associated with a perforation, it is important to use forced air pressure (pneumatic otoscopy) to be sure that the drum is intact.”
