Looking for the best hearing aid? Hearing aids are expensive, so why not buy the best one available?

This is a good idea, but there’s only one problem: There is no “best” hearing aid. Which hearing aid is best for you depends entirely on your needs, and the nature of your hearing loss.

Here is a guide for what kind of hearing aid is best for you!

Types Of Hearing Loss

* Conductive Hearing Loss. This means that there is a problem somewhere in your ear, so that the sound is not getting all the way from your outer ear to the inner ear. This is the most common reason people get hearing aids.

* Sensorineural Hearing Loss. In this case, there is a problem further in the inner ear, or there may be nerve problem so that the signal is not getting from the inner ear to the brain. This is a much more serious problem, but can be helped with the use of a hearing aid.

* Mixed Hearing Loss. Mixed hearing loss refers to a combination of both conductive and sensorineural hearing loss.

Buying A Hearing Aid

Note: Before buying a hearing aid, make sure that the manufacturer has a trial period. This is important. Most companies have a 30 or 60-day trial period during which you can return the hearing aid if it is not for you.

Regular Hearing Aids

Traditional hearing aids are designed to boost sound, and are good for any kind of hearing loss.

The most common hearing aids are the ones you’ve seen around. There are those that fit behind-the-ear (BTEs), in-the-ear (ITEs) and inside the ear canal.

You can also choose between digital and analog hearing aids. Analog hearing aids are less expensive, but are being phased out gradually, in favor of digital aids that have better sound quality and more features.

With more options to choose from, hearing aid users are increasingly choosing customized features such as dual microphone systems, different channels that can be switched back and forth, and telecoils that allow you to use your hearing aid with a telephone.

Implants

There are now hearing aids that can be surgically implanted. In this case, either the whole device or part of the device is put inside the body. There are advantages and disadvantages to this method. These are designed for those with serious and chronic hearing loss.

These devices take sound energy from outside and move the middle ear to reproduce the sound. They are designed for those with sensorineural hearing loss, and will not work if the middle ear is damaged. If you are considering this option, talk to your doctor to see if it might be appropriate for you.

Earglasses

The newest thing in hearing aid technology is a device that uses no electronics and no battery at all. It is a device made according to acoustic principles that sits behind your ear and magnifies sound about 12 decibels.

Earglasses work basically in the same way as cupping your hand around your ear does. It is a natural way to boost sound coming from in front of the listener. They will help you if you suffer mild hearing loss, only. For more severe hearing loss, more sophisticated technology is needed.

Is anyone bothered with heart beating in their ears ?

It’s called Pulsatile tinnitus & I could not find an answer, today I found out that if you clean your ears with q-tips you are pushing water in & it gets behind your ear drum & causes bacteria to grow, also if you use things like paper clips to scratch your ears it leaves small tears & when you get water in your ears that makes it worse & why is it that your heart beat in your ears seems louder than ? Is it possibly from the build up of fluid in there & how do you get it out ?
I have been to an ENT specialist & had all kinds of test but nothing showed. My ears itch a lot & I have made the huge mistake of itching them with a a long twisted paper clip..bad idea, that may of caused something.

Your nervous system helps you determine your activities and positions. The inner ear contains fluid and tiny hairs that act as sensors which detect gravity and movement. If any one of these signals is malfunctioning you may experience dizziness.

Getting dizzy while driving or walking can be pretty scary. There are quite a few things that you can do naturally to help your situation. Limiting salt intake can reduce any pressure in your inner ear. Drink plenty of liquids, especially water. Meniere’s disease is a severe form of vertigo (dizziness) with complications such as vomiting and ringing in the ears. Another form of dizziness which is caused from an inflammation is labrynithitis, or ear infection. Other inner ear disorders, anxiety disorders and hyperventilation can lead to dizziness or nausea. Natural remedies that have been proven to assist the inner ear may contain cocculus and pulsatilla, which help alleviate vertigo and motion sickness, ringing in the ear and nausea. Gelsemium or bryonia help promote inner ear stability.

For those with tinnitus one thing is universally true, they would do just about anything to make the high pitched whining in their ears go away. Most doctors will tell you there is no cure for tinnitus; this is based on the fact that their treatments for this condition end in limited success, and for many people do not help at all. This does not mean that there is no cure for tinnitus, as much as that your average doctor may not hold the answer to your particular tinnitus problem. Tinnitus and chiropractic treatments are just one example of an alternative treatment that may hold promise for at least some tinnitus sufferers. Can Hearing Aids Help Tinnitus

Tinnitus and Chiropractic

The truth is that there are so many different causes for tinnitus that not all tinnitus will be solved with the same treatments. What works for one person will not necessarily work for another, much depends on what is causing your tinnitus and sadly there is little research and therapies that can help you to determine this beyond seeing if your tinnitus is caused by hearing loss. For most people the best approach is one of persistence and trying various therapies until one or more of them work.

One of the biggest mistakes most people make is they are so desperate to find a cure for the ringing in their ears that they hop around from one therapy to another much too quickly making the mistake of thinking that if they do not work in the first week or two they are not going to help at all. This is where knowledge and patience can really help, many treatments, chiropractic among them take time to work.

The theory behind chiropractic is to reverse the subluxations in your spine that can reduce blood flow and impair nerves, since research has found that both of these conditions are thought to contribute to tinnitus, chiropractic has been shown for offer great improvement for many of those suffering from ringing in the ears. What About Those with Hearing Loss?

If you have been told that hearing loss is the cause of your tinnitus and that there is nothing that you can do about it, do not give up searching for solutions. There is some research being done now, which indicates that tinnitus may not be so much a symptom of hearing loss for some, as it may make them more sensitive to, and more aware of the tinnitus as they strain to hear and become more aware of the sounds emanating from their ears.

Chiropractors have found that the same treatments that help patients without hearing loss often help those with hearing loss. Often times there are many underlying causes for the ringing in your ears and addressing each one of these causes can help you have the best results for dealing with your condition.

Does Chiropractic work for Everyone?

Chiropractic for tinnitus is no miracle cure; it merely resolves one of the possible pathways by which many people’s tinnitus may occur. It will certainly improve the blood flow and the communication of the nerves to the brain but if there are other underlying causes for the ringing in your ears chances are it will not make it go away completely. In other words chiropractics cannot hurt but may not always help as much as you expect it to. That is not to say you should give up on it, but perhaps you need to look further, try other remedies in addition to this one, as part of a complete solution to the ringing in your ears.
